RICO AND STEPHANIE

I PHOTOGRAPHED RICO AND STEPHANIE'S DAY ALMOST TWO YEARS AGO NOW. WOAH. MY SISTER CARLIE AND I DROVE UP FROM SAN FRANCISCO TO THE LAKE TAHOE AREA IN A FREAK MAY SNOW STORM. MY DAD HAD PASSED AWAY JUST WEEKS PREVIOUS TO THIS TRIP. I THINK THAT'S WHAT I HAVE SUCH VIVID MEMORIES OF THE DRIVE UP (HE LOVED TO TRAVEL AND TOOK US ON MANY VACATIONS.) AND OF THE SCENERY ALONG THE WAY AND OF THE CONVERSATIONS CARLIE AND I HAD.

MAY TWENTY FIRST, VERY MUCH UNLIKE THE CHILLY MAY TWENTIETH, WAS SUNNY AND PLEASANT. ALL THE SNOW FROM THE PREVIOUS DAY'S STORM HAD MELTED AWAY. I REMEMBER SO MANY LITTLE THINGS FROM RICO AND STEPHANIE'S DAY. THE VIEWS WERE SPECTACULAR. THEIR FRIENDS AND FAMILY WERE SO IN LOVE WITH THEM AS INDIVIDUALS AND AS A PAIR. THE FLOWERS AND TABLE SETTINGS AND GOWNS AND SPARKLER SEND OFF WERE STUNNING (STEPHANIE HAS AN AMAZING EYE.). HOWEVER, THE THING THAT STANDS OUT MOST TO ME TODAY AS I CULL THROUGH THESE IMAGES AGAIN IS THE DEEP DOWN KINDNESS OF THIS PAIR. I SAW RICO AND STEPHANIE CARE SO WELL FOR THOSE AROUND THEM (INCLUDING ME, GOODNESS) ON A DAY WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ALL ABOUT THEM. I HAVE SUCH VIVID MEMORIES OF THEIR NATURE AS A COUPLE AND I THINK THOSE MEMORIES MEAN MORE THAN ALL THE PIE AND S'MORES AND COOL SOCKS AND PERFECT PEONIES AND LACE DRESSES COULD EVER MEAN. RICO AND STEPHANIE, THANK YOU.

I WANT TO DO THIS DAY OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN AND I'M SO EXCITED TO FINALLY BE SHARING IT WITH YOU NOW. SO MANY MORE GOOD DAYS TO COME HERE, SO SOON. I PROMISE.

XO, ALYSSA
